Canada has a thriving and vibrant jewellery design industry. There is nowhere better to explore this than the several Canadian jewellery design shows which are held throughout the year. These are trade and retail events and are as buzzing and vibrant as those who participate.
This is the best way to take in the whole Canadian design scene in one go. Many of the shows are specialist or regional and so have exhibitors from a certain field or area. But to take in much of the community at once, a visit to one of the bigger shows would be necessary. JCK Toronto is a large show held in the summer in Toronto. It hosts shows from all over Canada and North America.
If you visit these shows you will be at an ideal place for both exhibitors and buyers and sellers alike. If you need to buy jewellery supplies for your company then this show can provide you with sources for all your needs. You can either buy directly from the exhibitors here, or you can find out where they trade and go to them. Here you will source mounts, gems, metals, findings, everything you need. Also, if you are a seller, you will find buyers from all over the country, as well as international buyers and your market could open right up.

Most young people today are open to experimentation and do not believe in blindly following the past. Even when it comes to their wedding ring, which will, for most people be a once in a lifetime purchase, they would not just go for the conventional gold bands but also consider some of the more recent alternatives.
Considerable time and attention is spent in planning the wedding ring. Some couples prefer to have both their rings in matching metals and styles. Others prefer to have it match the style of their engagement rings. It all depends on individual tastes and there are really no guidelines.
The basic decision that you need to make is the metal for the ring. It is here whether the traditional gold wedding ring have an almost universal appeal. It is still the metal of choice for most people across the globe.
In recent times however, platinum wedding rings are getting more popular as they are a very durable metal and do not easily lose their shine. This makes it a very good fit for a wedding ring as it is important for the metal to last for a long time without being discolored or losing its shine.

When proposing to a woman, the customary gift is an engagement ring. Engagement rings can be made from a variety of materials and can come with all sorts of stone insets. While they’re popular all year round, June brings in the highest number of wedding and engagement ring sales compared to the rest of the year.
The first sign of the custom of exchanging rings began way back where men would hand the woman of his choice a nuptial ring as a sign of his affection. Back then, they did not have the exquisite materials used in the rings we have today, rather they used iron.
Instead of adding precious stones to the rings of that time, it was popular to instead scratch in the initials of the wearer on the inner part of the ring.
Of late, cubic zirconia stones are immensely popular and is becoming the preferred choice of stone. Although “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” as they say, cubic zirconia’s are fast becoming everyone’s favorite as these jewels are so much cheaper than real diamonds.

Rich in history, mystique and romance, fancy colored diamonds are the rarest of diamonds. For every colored diamond, there are 10,000 colorless diamonds. Colored diamonds command prices 20 to 25 times more than white diamonds. Popularity of these rare gems has been increasing for the last 3 years as more celebrities are seen wearing colored diamonds.
The rarest of the colored diamonds are red, intense purple and intense green. Fewer than 10 of each color are found every year. These three colors command the highest prices of all diamonds selling for US$1 million and higher for the larger, more perfect gems.
Once reserved for heads of state, aristocracy and the ultra wealthy, fancy diamonds are now available to anyone who has the means and desire to enjoy the rare and unique beauty of these precious jewels.
All diamonds are formed deep in the earth’s mantle at depths of 87 to 120 miles. High pressures and temperatures as high as-00 degrees centigrade created diamonds millions of years ago. Diamonds are forced to the earth’s surface in volcanic eruptions. Even these occurrences must have a rare set of circumstances as the magma’s source will need to be three times deeper than most volcanoes to reach the diamonds.

Has anyone recently made the suggestion to you that a ring may be their biggest wish? Whether it is going to be engagement rings for cheap online, a wedding ring or a renewal of your vow, a diamond will certainly help get your message of love across.
Some web gem stores provide all the information you could ever need! Their websites not only offer you a wide variety of designs for your perfect gift. They also give their visitors much information about diamonds.
A hundred and fifty kilometers below, lay the portion of the Earth called the mantle. This is where carbon is crystallized and formed into diamonds. The heat from the Earths core, combined with the pressure, gives the diamond its unique qualities over time.
When a diamond is made of pure carbon, it is transparent. However, other elements may attach themselves to the carbon atoms in the early stages of its formation thereby giving it some hint of light yellow or brown. The fact that only two percent of the gem quality diamonds are truly without any color makes this minority more valuable. But those whose colors go beyond the GIA scale are very rare and are therefore more valuable.

Why do so many love jewelry pendants?
Women simply cant get enough jewelry pendants. They wear them to look more attractive and have done for as long as we can remember. Jewelry in general has long been connected with the fine art of making women more beautiful. This probably originates as far back as ancient times, back in the day when beads and shells, bones and ornamental stones were used as much valued ornaments. They were carved and etched with great skill to produce attractive artifacts.
There are two types of jewelry – contemporary or traditional. Each has its own form of style and design. Both groups include jewelry made up of precious gems, fine metals like gold, silver and other metals as well as natural materials.
Jewelry has a broad range of uses, from functional usefulness like pinning apparels or status symbols and bedecked the person from head to foot. However, these days the increasing call for jewelry pendants has forced craftsmen to become more original, presenting stunning items in gold, silver, platinum. Gem stones have rushed back into the market in a variety of styles and designs. The most popular items include necklaces, amulets, bangles, bracelets, earrings, nose ring, anklets to name a few.

Completely designing your own wedding rings may seem a bit daunting, at least for most people. If you want a really unique look to your wedding rings you may wish to consider a small bit of customization that will result in amazing looking rings.
Settings are the starting point in designing your own wedding rings. From the setting you can then add your own diamond in the size, shape and cut that you prefer. With this option you can avoid having a ring that is the same as the other in the retail stores, but still not requiring a full custom design.
For individuals that want a larger diamond but are on a budget, custom designing your ring by selecting the setting and the diamond may allow much more diamond for your money. Pairing a fancier cut with a simpler band can also make the diamond look larger.
Selecting the setting that you prefer is the most important starting point to building or custom designing your own wedding rings. In addition you will need to have a fairly clear understanding of what shape and size of diamond you want so you can select a band and setting that goes with the diamond.

Promise rings are often seen as a separate gift from the wedding rings, although they certainly can be an important part of the romance of the occasion. Like wedding rings, promise rings are designs to show your love and your desire to be in a committed relationship with the other person.
Promise rings are not always designed the same as wedding rings, however they be very similar to traditional wedding ring designs. They come in a variety of metals including yellow gold, silver, white gold and platinum. More modern varieties of promise rings are also found in both titanium and palladium.
There is a great deal of history behind both wedding rings and promise rings. The origins of the promise ring date back to the 16th century when men, who didn’t quite have enough money to prove their worthiness to a woman’s father, would give her a promise ring in lieu of an engagement ring until he had enough funds to marry.
Unlike engagement rings and the very traditional wedding rings, promise rings can be given by the couple to each other, not just by the man to the woman. Matching promise rings between a couple are becoming very popular in many areas.

Historically many wedding rings have been sold separately and not as matching sets. There are now many more options of wedding ring sets that include both the bridal set as well as the wedding band for the husband. These matching sets are popular with many couples and are a beautiful way to show your love and commitment to each other.
Wedding rings that have a matching engagement and wedding band may be made of any type of metal from white gold to yellow gold, platinum or even titanium. Combinations of metals such as gold and titanium or white gold and yellow gold make spectacular matching wedding band sets, with or without diamonds or other gems.
To add detail and design to the ring there are also other options besides diamonds or gems. Wedding rings with inset patterns or designs or even symbols are very popular. Smaller or larger stones can be added to the designs to add detail and a touch of dazzle.
Engraving on wedding rings, either on the outside or the inside of the band, is also a popular way for couples to have matching rings. This engraving may have a message of love or commitment or it can have the couple’s initials, wedding date or other information that the couple has selected.
